Buying stitched dresses online? Use this clear size chart and measurement guide to find your best fit. We list garment measurements (how we measure each piece) in inches and centimetres — and explain how to match those to your body measurements.

How to read our size chart (important)

  • Shirt measurements in the chart are shown as flat/half measurements (measured with the garment laid flat).

    • Example: Chest 19 in (flat) = 38 in circumference.

  • Trouser waist & thigh values are shown as full circumference (inches) in the original chart.

  • All values below include both inches (in) and centimetres (cm) conversions.

  • If you prefer metric only, use the cm column. If you’re between sizes, see the “Between sizes?” section below.

How to measure your body

Use a soft measuring tape. Measure over light clothing (not bulky clothing). Keep tape parallel to the floor and comfortably snug.

  • Bust/Chest: measure around the fullest part of your chest.

  • Waist: measure at natural waistline (where your torso bends).

  • Hips: measure around the fullest part of your hips/buttocks.

  • Shoulder: measure shoulder seam to shoulder seam across the back.

  • Sleeve length: from shoulder tip to wrist (with elbow slightly bent).

  • Thigh (if needed): measure around the fullest part of your upper thigh.

How to pick the right size (match body to garment)

  1. Compare your body measurement to the garment circumference (for chest & hip, multiply flat values by 2).

  2. Allow ease (extra room) depending on the style:

    • Casual / A-line / loose kurta: allow 2–4 cm ease at bust & hips.

    • Ethnic / vintage / layered silhouettes: allow 3–6 cm ease for comfort & movement.

    • Semi-formal / fitted styles: allow 1–3 cm ease (if fabric is stiff or non-stretch, prefer the higher end).

  3. If your body measurement falls between two sizes, choose the size where your body + ease fits comfortably. For tailored pieces, size up if unsure.

Example:
If your bust = 94 cm, compare to garment chest circumference:

  • S garment chest = 96.52 cm → leaves ~2.5 cm ease → good for a close comfortable fit.

  • M garment chest = 106.68 cm → more relaxed fit.

Specific tips for Alif by Moon dresses

  • Stitched suits & lawn kurtas: these usually have relaxed fits. If you like a fitted look, choose the lower size where safe.

  • Embroidered & semi-formal dresses: fabrics may be non-stretch; if between sizes, size up for comfort.

  • Trouser fit: trouser waist is shown as full circumference — if you prefer a snug waist, ensure garment waist is at least 4–6 cm larger than your body waist.

  • Sleeves & shoulder: if you have broader shoulders pick the size with larger shoulder width (see shoulder flat measurement converted to cm).

  • Model info: Model is 5’6″ (168 cm) and wearing size M.
